Fresh Off the Press

Fresh off the press features my current projects. May 2022, I began work on a series of 24” x 18” linoleum block prints, all printed on 30” x 22” Rives BFK Buff 280g paper. The marks on the linocuts are influenced by newly acquired chip carving skills I learned while making traditional Spanish furniture. The botanical stencils were constructed after pulling ephedra and purslane from my NM desert “yard,” where it grows wild around my studio. After making drawings of the plants, I turned them into digital files and had dozens of paper laser cuts made. I used laser cuts as stencils to block out areas of ink from the linoleum blocks, learning water blue images behind. This series explores the influences on my life since moving to the NM desert 7 months ago, to place, and the pursuit to water.
